Sherilyn Danis

CTAJ™ | Executive Director

As Co-Executive Director of the Foundation of Administrative Justice (FOAJ), Sherilyn oversees and manages the Education and Member Services branch of FOAJ. Under her careful guidance, she manages custom client training, course calendar development, instructor recruitment and supports learners’ academic journeys. Sherilyn plays an active role in reviewing the bylaws and policies and she is the lead reviewer of the annual budget. She also oversees course evaluations, administering exams, graduation ceremonies, course development, membership cultivation, retention, and support. Sherilyn began working with the FOAJ in 1998 and has served as a past Board Member. Sherilyn holds a Business Management Diploma from MacEwan University and a Certificate in Tribunal Administrative JusticeTM from FOAJ.

Sherilyn is originally from the west coast. She was born in Duncan which is located on Vancouver Island. Sherilyn moved to Alberta in 1997 and in 2005 met her husband, a Canadian Armed Forces Veteran. She is a mother of teenage twin boys and two older children and is a grandmother to five beautiful grandchildren.

During the summer, Sherilyn can be found enjoying time with her husband, children, and grandchildren at their family cabin at Lac Sante. Together they enjoy boating, swimming, playing yard games, and sharing stories around the campfire.

Sherilyn is honored to be a dual member of the Royal Canadian Legion and Ladies Auxiliary Branch 27 Fort Saskatchewan. Sherilyn serves as the secretary of the Ladies Auxiliary. The Legion is a big part of her family’s life.

As a mother to two active boys, a lot of Sherilyn’s time is spent courtside, on a ball diamond, or at a dart tournament cheering on her boys.

STARS Air Ambulance, Canadian Cancer Society, Hope Mission, and the Legion are a few of the charities close to Sherilyn’s heart that she actively supports.

 

 

Questions & Answers

What languages do you speak?

English, but I have been practicing my French as my boys are in French immersion.

Favorite music genre?

Pretty much anything. But country and classic rock are my favorites.

Favorite film?

Dirty Dancing. Nobody puts Baby in a corner.

If you could travel anywhere, where would it be?

France to Vimy, Normandy, and Juno beach then hop on over to Ireland and UK and finish off in Italy. That would cover my ancestral journey.

Favorite place to visit?

Always home – Vancouver Island. A close second would be our family farm in Ceylon, Saskatchewan.

Hobbies?

Darts, sports (watching more than playing these days), movies, traveling, and having fun.
