Terms of Reference

Land Acknowledgement: The Foundation of Administrative Justice respectfully acknowledges that our courses are offered on traditional lands of First Nations, Metis, Inuit, or First Peoples in Canada. We respect the histories, languages, and cultures of First Nations, Metis, Inuit, and all First Peoples in Canada whose presence continues to enrich our vibrant community.

Goal: Identify “best practice” models for developing and delivering administrative justice related curriculum.

Terms of Reference

Committee Members: Larry Flowers, Lynn Chipley, Cathy Claughton

Staff Lead:  Sherilyn Danis

Initiatives:

a. Develop course plans including:

  • Integrated and customized plans for each learner
  • Calendar
  • Cost/payment structure
  • Course delivery alternatives to ensure completion
  • Sequence courses are offered. i.e. POAJ as a prerequisite for 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 = elective -incentivize

b. Investigate and select the most effective delivery mode or hybrid mode for each course, e.g.:

  • Livestream
  • Self-Paced
  • Hybrid
  • Other

c. To enhance the learning and skill development process, research and pilot alternative ways to transition between and among platforms, programs, assignments and evaluation strategies.

d. Recruit qualified facilitators:

  •  Develop a development plan for maximizing the instructional abilities of current facilitators
  • Develop best practices to:
    –   recruit facilitators
    –   orient facilitators
    –   evaluate and certify lead and other facilitators.

e. Review and update facilitator contracts.

f. Designate signatories needed to authorize curriculum development, facilitator, and other contracts.

g. Develop cost-effective strategies to monitor and sustain facilitator competencies and motivation.

h. Review currency and appropriateness of existing courses annually.

i. Determine market viability for developing new courses.

 

Meeting Dates and Action Items:

  • July 7, 1 pm to 2 pm MT Recap
    • Objective A: Develop course plans – Revised completion date from March 30, 2026, to ongoing.
    • Objective C: To enhance the learning and skill development process, research and pilot alternative ways to transition between and among platforms, programs, assignments, and evaluation strategies – Revised completed date from December 2026 to December 2030.
    • Objective D: Recruit qualified facilitators – A draft of the “booklet” will be presented at the September 9th committee meeting.
    • All objectives that require a budget are paused.
    • Invite Carol Zukiwski to the next three committee meetings.
